Michael Copeland handles most of the day-to-day operations for Rock Costa Rica. Michael has lived in the La Fortuna area for more than 7 years. His in-depth knowledge of the people and his keen eye for desirable properties make him an invaluable asset. Michael also has the gentle, polite nature that is absolutely necessary to successfully negotiating transactions with local people and institutions. When you visit the area, Michael will give you a first-rate tour of the communities and properties most suited to your needs.

Michael Copeland founded Rock Costa Rica after falling in love with the Lake Arenal area and moving there from Northern California’s Bay Area. He developed a deep affection and respect for the Tico people and for the Costa Rican philosophy of pura vida (“the pure life”) – a philosophy characterized by strong community spirit, perseverance, resilience in overcoming difficulties, enjoying life slowly and celebrating good fortune. Michael launched his business as a way to help others who, like him, wanted to bask in the beauty of the land and the warmth of its people while pursuing their dreams. Although Michael is currently spending most of his time in the United States, he remains heavily involved in the day-to-day operations of Rock Costa Rica, and is happy to share his knowledge of Costa Rica’s laws, construction requirements and business regulations.
